Grace.

I am reminded of the LOVE that was shown. JOY that I have found. And most importantly, GRACE that is given.

What are you reminded of this Christmas? :D

Vintage timepiece for the mister

Christmas comes very very early for the Mister this year. Because of his interest in timepieces, I found this RADO vintage timepiece (not working anymore) on my supplies hunt. I thought they made very cute cuff links. The timepiece (due to my severe lack of knowledge of the mechanism) has pretty coloured crystals on it. And so, a very early christmas present for the mister. I think he likes it. I have one more set of it on hand. Let me know if you’d be interested especially if you are crazy over timepieces. :D

UPDATE: This additional set has been sold! If you’re still interested in more vintage timepieces, do let me know. :)

Wednesday blues

It’s Wednesday. I remember when I was still working in one of the Big Four firm, I had a colleague who would come round on Wednesday to congratulate me. For crossing over the mid-mountain of a week, and ready to embrace the long-awaited, but often oh-so-short Fridays. And I would always be waiting for Wednesday to be over. And so I suffered not only from Sunday depression, Monday inertia, I also face Wednesday blues. Here’s some new creations (look out for them in my store) to remind me about the past seasons, and to be thankful for the current season!

She sell seashells on the seashore Earrings

If you look closer, you would see the beautiful shell bail on which the crystal is hanging on. The first pair of dangling earrings I made for a friend. I hope she likes it. :D

I wish you LOVE Bobby pin set

Pure Bliss. Pure Joy. But most importantly, LOVE. An over-sensationalised term, but yet a very difficult word to put into action. This set of bobby pins represents, I think, what most people long for. :)

To band or not to band

I’m bad at sewing. Or in the half full glass attitude, there are lots and lots and lots of room for improvement. :) But because I like hairbands and my pretty niece needed some hair accessories to put her thick hair in place, I’ve decided to give it a shot. And this is what I managed to come up with.

I’m using it now and it works wonders for my unruly hair. Maybe it’s time to consider investing in a sewing machine.

I never thought the day would come when I would consider buying a sewing machine. I feel ancient.

Here’s a picture of the band and other pretty fabrics that I’m churning in bands. To band or not to band? Band it please!

Monster Party

Now that this blog has officially turned from a shop to a blog, there will be more entries on life here in Japan (if you do not already know, see my about mengmonster page) and on my craft. :) And in case you’re wondering where the shop disappeared to, do visit http://www.etsy.com/shop/monstermeng

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

The little one turned one this year and to celebrate this important milestone, we threw a party back home in Singapore. Cookie monster was the star of the party, besides my baby. But well, this really turned out to be a craft project for me. From invitation cards, to little door gifts, to goodie bags – my first time ever, having a themed party with handmade goodies all round. It was fun and it was a great time for pictures. And certainly very memorable, possibly not for the kiddo since he probably wouldn’t remember it, but more for us. :D

Bumble Bee Ring

A venture into the woods of jewellery making. :D I was given a book on jewellery making on my birthday by a dear friend. And it’s time to put that book to good use.

This creation features a cute Bumble Bee (with crystals) working its way through a bunch of honey berries (if such a berry actually exists)

The floodgates to jewellery making has been opened. I’m excited to see what comes up next.

The Frog Prince Bobby Pin Set

What makes the frog a prince? The crown? Does 1 and 1 add up to 2?

I always thought the story to be unreal. :) I think such princesses do not exist in any form or kind. And now that I’m all grown up, I wonder why these weird fairytales exist and why children were told these stories. Really odd.

In any case, this bobby pin set features a frog, a crown and a frog prince. Get ready for a transformation. :D

This set of brass bobby pins, come with handmade fabric buttons of size 15mm and charm of approximately 8mm on its longest side.
